Anthony Jason Davenport

Anthony Jason "JayBird" Davenport, 54, of Bellevue, Kentucky, formerly of Ludlow, Kentucky, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, July 9, 2026, at St. Elizabeth Healthcare in Fort Thomas, Kentucky. Jason was born on March 9, 1972, in Covington, Kentucky, to the late H. Wayne and Carol Sue (Turner) Davenport.

Jason worked as a carpenter for Northern Kentucky University in Highland Heights, Kentucky, and was a proud graduate of Ludlow High School, Class of 1990. A lifelong member of First Baptist Church in Ludlow, he loved all sports and especially enjoyed working with and training his beloved dog, Ethel.

The most important thing to know about Jason was his genuine desire to help and serve others. He was deeply grateful for every opportunity to make a difference, a generosity that continued even after his passing through the gift of organ donation.

Whether you had known Jason your entire life or had only recently met him, his passing leaves an immense sense of loss. That is because of who he was—welcoming, fun-loving, generous, authentic, and humble. Jason loved people without reservation, and he lived his life the same way: wholeheartedly and unapologetically.

He was preceded in death by his parents, H. Wayne and Carol Davenport, and his brother, Stewart Wayne Davenport.

Jason is survived by his loving wife, Denise Lewis Davenport; his sister, Sandy Davenport Wright; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws, and countless friends whose lives were enriched by knowing him.

While there is no visitation is scheduled, the family would welcome those able to attend the Graveside Committal Service at 10:00 a.m., Friday, July 31, 2026, at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Erlanger, Kentucky.

Denise and the family invite all who knew and loved Jason to celebrate his life at a Celebration of Life gathering on Saturday, August 1, 2026, beginning at 2:30 p.m. at Smoke Justis, 302 Court Street, Covington, Kentucky.

Middendorf-Bullock Funeral Home in Erlanger, Kentucky, is serving the family.

Memorial contributions may be made, in Jason's memory, to the American Diabetes Association, 10200 Alliance Road, Suite 101, Blue Ash, OH 45242; Ludlow A/C, 739 Oak Street, Ludlow, KY 41016; or Ludlow Youth Football, 425 Oak Street, Ludlow, KY 41016.

Jason made the world a better place simply by being in it. The greatest way to honor his memory is to live as he did: strive each day to be the best version of yourself; help those who cannot help themselves; give to those in need; and do it all with kindness, respect, compassion, and love. Though he will be deeply missed, the example he set will continue to live on in all who were fortunate enough to know him.
