Biography

Betty Jean Fisher, nee Gibson, born April 22, 1919 in Kansas City, KS passed away on February 25, 2012 in Surprise, Arizona. Most of her life was lived in Cincinnati, OH until her move to Phoenix, AZ in 2001. She was preceded in death by her parents, Mamie (Mitchum)and Warren Gibson; her husband of 38 years, Eldridge H.; her sister Elinore Brelsford; and her grandson, John Koeniger. She is survived by two daughters, Judith (Gary) Gravitt of Surprise, Arizona and Jeanene Fisher of Asheville, North Carolina; two grandchildren, Mitchum Huehls and Rachel Huehls; two great-grandchildren, Gibson and Oscar Lopez de Huehls. Having invited Jesus into her heart when she was baptized at age ten, Betty lived a joy-filled life of faith and integrity. In addition to teaching Sunday School and singing in the choir for over 50 years, she was president and secretary of the Ohio American Baptist Women. Betty loved to learn, not just as a prolific reader, but also as a world traveler, bringing humor and cheer to all who met her. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends, for whom she always had encouraging words of love and wisdom, and by her grandchildren, for whom she always had a puzzle to work, ducks to feed, and candy to sneak. But in death as in life, all celebrate her faith, grace, persistence, and spunk. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Hospice of the Valley, 1510 E. Flower Street, Phoenix, AZ 85014-5656 or online at hov.org. Visitation will be on March 3 at 10:00 am to 11:00 am at Middendorf-Bullock Funeral Home, 3614 Dixie Highway, Erlanger, KY, followed by a celebration service at 11:00 am, (Betty requested that you wear something red to celebrate!) Following the service, burial will be at Arlington Memorial Gardens, 2145 Compton Road, Mt. Healthy, OH. Friends and family are invited to a luncheon at LaRosas at 3657 Stone Creek Boulevard (Colerain and Stone Creek) Colerain, OH following the graveside service.
