Carolyn Marie (Egan) Spille, a beloved resident of Villa Hills, passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 29, 2025, at St. Elizabeth Healthcare in Fort Thomas, Kentucky, at the remarkable age of 99. Born on December 17, 1925, in Covington, Kentucky, she was the daughter of the late Robert J. and Bernadetta (Hackman) Egan.
Throughout her life, Carolyn embraced a multitude of roles. She will be remembered for her contributions as Vice President and Partner of Spille Builders. Her professional achievements were complemented by her deep passion for music, which defined much of her early journey. A talented vocalist who trained for eight years in classical and pop music, Carolyn honed her craft at the Cincinnati Conservatory of Music, performing with various choirs and ensembles throughout the years. Highlights of her musical career include her 12 years with the choir at St. Lawrence Church under the direction of J. Alfred Schehl and her four years with the Acapella choir at Seton High under the direction of Vincent Orlando from the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra.
She brought joy to countless audiences, singing for five years with the Crosley Choir at WLW under the direction of Uberto Neely from the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra and as a backup vocalist for renowned artists such as Rosemary and Betty Clooney. Even after her retirement from the stage in 1950 to embrace motherhood, she continued sharing her love for music, lending her voice to the Mother of God Church Choir for five years, and the Cathedral Basilica Choir under the direction of Dr. Robert Schaffer for two years. She was also a soloist at Holy Cross Church, Covington and sang at weddings.
Carolyn’s legacy of love extends beyond her musical talents. In 2022, she lost her beloved husband of 65 years, Joseph Charles Spille. She was also preceded in death by a daughter-in-law, Doris Spille, her sister, Juanita Knoop; and grandson, Sam Spille.
She is survived by her three daughters, Bernadette (Robert) Spille Green, Carol Ann (Stephen) Spille Barton, and Joann (Chris) Spille Wright; sons, Tim (Jacqueline) Spille, John Spille, and Tom (Tonia) Spille; as well as 16 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandson, and three nieces.
Visitation will be held at 9:00 AM on Tuesday, June 3, 2025, at St. Joseph Church, located at 2470 Lorraine Court, Crescent Springs, Kentucky, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM. Carolyn will be laid to rest at Mother of God Cemetery in Fort Wright.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Crescent Springs Volunteer Fire Department, 777 Overlook Drive, Crescent Springs, KY 41017. May her memory live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
