Gilbert Borgemenke, Sr.

Gilbert William Borgemenke Sr., 86, of Burlington, passed away, Tuesday, August 6, 2024, at his residence. He was a supervisor with Shearer Manufacturing. 

Gilbert was a member of First Church of Christ in Burlington, and Venice Presbyterian Church in Venice, Florida. He was also a horse trainer at several tracks, and enjoyed gardening, watching black and white movies and loved westerns. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, Leo and Eleanor (Haunz) Borgemenke Sr.; brothers: Louis Borgemenke, Leo Jr. (the late Carol) Borgemenke, Terry Borgemenke, and sister Sue Fluharty. 

Survivors include his loving wife of 69 years, Shirley (Gayheart) Borgemenke; daughters, Rita (Frank) Monterosso, Brenda (Mike) Ward, Sandy (Bill) Connelly; son, Gilbert (Cindy) Borgemenke Jr; sisters, Melva (the late Don) Harting, Patsy (the late Julius) Temari, and Louise (the late Jack) Poole; brother, Lee Roy Borgemenke, and sister-in-law Paulette Borgemenke; eleven grandchildren and nineteen great grandchildren. 

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
