James Conner

James Calvin Conner, 95, of Union, died Friday, March 18, 2016 surrounded by his entire family at his residence.

James was born January 12, 1921 in Hebron, Kentucky where he was a lifelong resident. He was the youngest of six children of the late Hubert and Lillie Goodridge Conner.

James graduated from Hebron High School at the age of 16, the University of Kentucky, Electrical Engineering, class of 1942 and earned his law degree from the Chase Law School in 1976. He also attended MIT and Harvard University while in the Army to study the development of what is known today as radar.

James was a Captain in the Army serving in World War II on the European Front. He was a member of the Boone County Board of Education from 1965-1972 and Secretary and Treasurer of Hebron Building and Loan Association.

James was a lifelong member of Hebron Lutheran Church/Gloria Dei Lutheran Church serving as church treasurer and Sunday school teacher for many years. He also coached Youth basketball, baseball and softball and was very active in all of his children’s sports.

He was a Mason, a member of the Lions Club, and a member of the Kentucky Bar Association, a Kentucky Colonel and past Chairman of the Boone County Democratic Party.

James was an avid fan of the University of Kentucky Basketball and the Cincinnati Reds who loved collecting books, playing bridge and doing crossword puzzles. He was a trivia expert and loved spending time with his entire family.

He worked for General Electric, FAA, practiced law for several years and retired after 27 years from Cincinnati Gas and Electric.

He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Margie (Eubanks) Conner; sons, Steven (Kathleen) Conner of Golden Colorado and Dr. Douglas (Donna) Conner of Hebron; daughters, Linda (William) Viox of Florence and Kelly Conner of Fort Wright; grandchildren, Ryan Conner, Bradley Conner, Clayton Conner, James Conner, Chase Conner, Melissa Ferguson, Meredith Fox, Megan de Sola, Margaux McGlasson and Kelsey Duncan; and great grandchildren, Ian, Corbin, Cameron, Hannah, Evan, William, Molly, Lillian, Lydia, Isaac, Violet, Quinn, Milo and Remy.

Visitation is Tuesday, March 22, 2016 from 3:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Middendorf-Bullock Funeral Home, Hebron. Funeral Service is Wednesday, March 23, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial at Hebron Lutheran Cemetery.
