James Robert Deaton, 90, of Alexandria, Kentucky passed away on Saturday, April 4, 2026, at his winter home in Sebring, Florida following a brief illness.
Known as "Jim" to his friends and "Rob" to his family, he was born on April 7, 1935, in Wolf Coal, Kentucky to the late Talbert, Sr. “Tack” and Malinda "Lindy" (Turner) Deaton. Rob was retired as a Foreman for the former Kent Manufacturing Co, Bellevue and had served his country in the U.S. Army.
He was a member of Flagg Springs Baptist Church, California, Kentucky and enjoyed Bluegrass music, fishing, and hunting but nothing gave Rob greater joy than just spending time with his family.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Pauline (King) Deaton in 2005; a daughter, Linda Grisham; son in law, Jim Simon; his parents; and siblings and their spouses, Magdalene (Bud) Turner, Rosalee (Harvey) Lingley, Polly (Hubert) Dunn and Johnny (Donna) Deaton.
Survivors include his second wife, Vivian Jacqueline “Jackie” (Mays) Deaton; son, Tim Deaton; daughter, Tammy Simon; brother, Talbert “Sprig” (Betty) Deaton, Jr.; brother in law, Bobby King; sister in law, Marie Criders; grandchildren, Stephanie Deaton Watkins, Scott (Kathy) Deaton, Ashley (Mike) Lusenhop, Haley Grisham and Carissa (Andrew) McCarthy; great grandchildren, Alexis (Bret) Guy, Ian Deaton, Jayden Lusenhop, Jaxon Lusenhop, Bella Watkins, Caleb Watkins, and Levi McCarthy; and great great grandchildren, Jace and McKenna; along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Visitation is from 10:00 am to 12:00 Noon Saturday, April 11, 2026, at the Middendorf-Bullock Funeral Home, 1833 Petersburg Road, Hebron, Kentucky. Funeral services to follow at 12:00 Noon. Interment at Riverside Cemetery, Falmouth, Kentucky.
