James Smith

James E. Smith, 90, of Edgewood, Kentucky, formerly of Hebron, Kentucky, passed away Monday, August 18, 2025, at The Summit of Edgewood Assisted Living, Edgewood.

James was born on August 30, 1934, in Elgin, Illinois to the late Everett and Flora (Pemberton) Smith. He was a retired Mechanical Engineer for Belcan Corp of Blue Ash, Ohio and served his country in the U.S. Army.

He was a longtime member of Hebron Lutheran Church, Hebron and a member of the Hebron Masonic Lodge F & AM # 757, Scottish Rites and Cincinnati Shriner’s. He was a Kentucky Colonel and he enjoyed being outdoors.

James was a pilot, and he had his own plane for many years where he and his wife would travel the world.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and three sisters, Shirley Manuel, Jean Ceccarelli and Wilma Padfield.

Surviving is his wife, Wanda (Herbstreit) Smith. They would have celebrated their 55th anniversary on August 22. Also surviving is a host of nieces and nephews that he greatly loved.

NO Visitation. Graveside service with Military Honors is 11:00 am Saturday, August 23, 2025, at the Hebron Lutheran Cemetery, Hebron.

Middendorf-Bullock Funeral Home, Hebron is serving the family.
