On October 1, 2026, John Henry Sims, 70, passed away with his huband and sisters by his side after a short battle with illness.
John had multiple careers, starting off as a florist after high school. He then became a massage therapist, and finally, in retirement, John worked part-time at Winn Dixie in multiple departments.
He loved flowers and cooking. John would cook at the Ronald McDonald House for families with ill children. He was a loving, caring person who was always willing to assist those in need. John was the type of person who would literally give someone the shirt off his back, and on one occasion, he did just that!
John's life was full of colorful flowers and plants. His favorite color was green and it would be his wish that his funeral not be black and somber. Wear any color you like--the brighter, the better.
John is survived by his husband of 30 years, Douglas "Doug" Moore; his brother, Willard "Will" Sims, Jr. (Franci); sisters, Carol Sims and Lois Sims; niece, Megan Northcutt (Justin); nephews, Benjamin "Ben" (Gwen) Sims and Anthony "Tony" Sims; and great nieces and great nephews, Olivia Northcutt, Laila Northcutt, Vincent Northcutt, Theodore "Teddy" Sims, Booker Sims, and Sybil Elizabeth Sims.
Visitation is Monday, October 26, 2026 from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at the Middendorf-Bullock Funeral Home, 3614 Dixie Highway, Erlanger, with a Memorial Service at 11:00 am. John's family will have private interment at New St. Joseph Cemetery in West Price Hill following the service.
