On Sunday, October 27, 2024, Joseph Samuel Conrad died peacefully with his family by his side.
Joe was born on June 1, 1930, in Covington, Kentucky to Joseph W. and Sophronia (Gormley) Conrad. He graduated from Dixie Heights High School, Edgewood, Kentucky in 1949, where he served as the Senior Class President. He enjoyed attending his class reunions each year and keeping in contact with his classmates of 75 years.
After graduation, Joe attended the University of Kentucky until joining the United States Air Force serving in the Korean War from 1951 to 1955. He was stationed in the Philippines where he was a Staff Sargent.
On June 12, 1971, he married Lois Watts in Georgetown, Kentucky. They raised their three sons, Joseph, Eddie and Richard, in Hebron, Kentucky. Joe and Lois remained in their same home for over 50 years. He retired from Delta Airlines in 1992 after 37 years at Bluegrass Field, Lexington and Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky Airport (CVG), Hebron. After retirement, he served as a CVG Ambassador for 27 years.
Joe was a member of Fort Mitchell Baptist Church, Fort Mitchell and the Masonic Good Faith Lodge F & AM # 95, Erlanger, Kentucky. He loved spending time with his family and grandchildren. He was very outgoing and never met a stranger, and could talk to anyone about anything.
Joe kept in contact with all of his family and friends and was interested in what was going on in each of their lives and what was going on in the world. He also enjoyed fishing and raising livestock.
Joe was preceded in death by his wife, Lois in 2023; and his parents and brothers, John William (his wife Alyce) Conrad and Edgar L. (his wife, Lillian) Conrad.
Surviving are his three sons, Joseph W.L. (Kim) Conrad, Eddie Conrad and Richard (Dana) Conrad; seven grandchildren; five great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation is 9:00 am to 10:30 am, Saturday, November 2, 2024 at the Middendorf-Bullock Funeral Home, Hebron. Funeral services to immediately follow at 10:30 am. Interment with military honors will be in Highland Cemetery, Fort Mitchell, Kentucky.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the Fort Mitchell Baptist Church, 2323 Dixie Highway, Fort Mitchell, KY 41017.
