Mary Anne Fitzgerald Anderson, of Cold Spring, KY (previously Covington, KY & Mt. Lookout in Cincinnati) — Mary Anne Fitzgerald Anderson (nee Meyers), loving wife to Tim for 25 special years. Beloved mother of four Fitzgerald children: Catherine Closson, Kevin, Evie Estes, and Alice Drake, and one Ashton son, Christopher. Grandmother of 13: Miranda, Olivia, Natalie, and Quinn Closson; Liam and Ayden Fitzgerald; Jarod, Audrey, and Ayla Estes; Veronica and Isabella Drake; Hailey Hatton (nee Ashton) and Kyle Ashton. Great-grandmother to three: Wrenley Ashton, Oliver, and baby-on-the-way Hatton. Faithful sister to Susie Barrett (deceased) and Richard Meyers. Devoted mother-in-law to John Closson, Melissa Fitzgerald (nee Wilmes), Ed Estes, and Tony Drake.
Mary Anne was a Registered Nurse with a caring, open heart, attending Bradford College for an associate’s degree in the Arts and graduating from Columbia University, NYC with a Bachelor of Science from the College of Nursing. She also held a Chemical Dependency Counselor Certification. She was married to Harry Fitzgerald (deceased) in 1960, living most of their life together in Tulsa, OK, where Mary Anne was a socialite and served on many boards and committees.
Moving to Cincinnati, she married John Ashton in 1975, and resumed her nursing career at Christ Hospital, Bethesda Oak, and various home health care agencies. She and Tim Anderson were married in 2000, when she moved to NKY and became a psychiatric counselor in a private practice until 2015.
Among her gifts and talents were horseback riding, ballet, painting, gardening, hosting parties, and singing. Her interests and hobbies included raising and showing Siamese cats, reading, crossword puzzles, karaoke, decorating every square inch for Christmas, supporting the arts, especially the Cincinnati Ballet and Broadway Series. Mary Anne was an ardent Cincinnati Reds baseball fan. Glamorous and fashionable were adjectives often used to describe her.
Providentially, she experienced a renewal of her Catholic faith about 20 years ago, upon visiting the house of our Holy Mother Mary in Ephesus. As a result, she became faithfully devoted to her small, spirited Our Savior Catholic Church in Covington, KY.
Mary Anne passed away December 10, 2025, at the age of 90.
