Mary Lou Boots

Mary Lou (Shannon) Boots, 75, of Villa Hills, Kentucky died unexpectedly at her home on Monday, June 1, 2026. 

Mary Lou was born on June 26, 1950, in Trenton, Michigan to the late Gerald and Beatrice (Schoemer) Shannon. She received her BSN from the Good Samaritan School of Nursing and was a retired Registered Nurse for St. Elizabeth Healthcare, Edgewood. 

Mary Lou was a longtime member of St. Joseph Church, Crescent Springs, Kentucky and she enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, going to the beach and family vacations. 

She was preceded in death by her husband, Martin William Boots in 2013; and her parents. 

Survivors include daughters, Sara (Jason) Chalfant and Shannon (David) Rice, Sr.; grandchildren, David (Claire) Rice, Jr., Emily Rice, Peter Rice, Rosemary Rice, Jimmy Rice, Henry Chalfant, and Charlie Chalfant; sisters, Colleen (Tim) Dewitt and Karen (Steve) Wilson; and brothers, Tim (Michele) Shannon, Jerry (Cathy) Shannon and Kevin (Rebecca) Shannon. 

The family will receive friends from 11:00 am to 12:00 Noon Saturday, June 6, 2026, at St. Joseph Church, 2470 Lorraine Court, Crescent Springs. The Northern Kentucky Nurses' Honor Guard Service will begin at 11:50 am. Memorial Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 12:00 Noon. Inurnment will be in St. Mary Cemetery, Fort Mitchell.
