Norman Cornell, 89, of Crestwood, Florida, formerly of Burlington, Kentucky and Jamestown, Ohio, passed away on Saturday, May 9, 2026, at this residence in Crestwood. Norman was born on October 24, 1936, in Cincinnati, Ohio to the late Jim and Mina (Yokum) Cornell.
He graduated from Walnut Hills High School in Cincinnati and served his country in the US Army during the Korean War. Following his military service, Norman went to work for Western Union Telegraph company with a distinguished 40-year career, retiring as the Supervisor in the Cincinnati Office.
Norman married his high school sweetheart, Patricia Ann Perry, on December 8, 1956, in Norwood, Ohio. Together they raised three sons and built a loving family. He was a fan of all Cincinnati sports teams. His legacy includes coaching youth baseball, volunteering in his community, and spending time with family and friends.
Surviving is his three sons, Kevin Cornell, Mark (Stacey) Cornell and Steve (Denise) Cornell; he leaves behind numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Patricia Ann (Perry) Cornell; his parents, Jim and Mina Cornell; his four brothers, Foster, Jimmy, Roy and Bobby Cornell; and his two sisters, Juanita McRoberts and Betty Gerke; and a grandson, Mark Cornell, Jr.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, May 31, 2026, from 2:00 to 4:00 pm at the Middendorf-Bullock Funeral Home, 3614 Dixie Hwy., Erlanger, Kentucky. Graveside Rites with Military Honors will be held at 1:00 pm Monday, June 1, 2026, at the Kentucky Veterans Cemetery, North, Williamstown, Kentucky.
