Reverend Roy D. Martin, 83, of Burlington, died Saturday, February 2 at St. Elizabeth South Medical Center in Edgewood. He was a retired Disciples of Christ Pastor having served at Bullittsville, Somerset, Mt. Sterling, and LaGrange Christian Churches.

He was U.S. Navy veteran, serving as a deep sea diver and ship fitter. He was also a veteran of World War II.

He was the retired pastor and a member of Bullittsville Christian Church; Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Weekday School of Religion; Member of the General Board of the Christian Churches; Representative to the Kentucky Commission/United Ministry in Higher Education; a graduate of Transylvania and the Lexington Theological Seminary; and a 32nd Degree Mason.

He is survived by daughter, Sheri Martin of Cincinnati; sons, Richard D. Martin of Newark, Ohio and Ken Martin of Butler; brother-in-law, Dr. Howard C. Barnett of Lexington; eight grandchildren; and eight great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Justine Barnett Martin; and parents, Roy D. and Violet Hutchinson Martin.
