Richard L. "Dick" Baumer, much loved father, grandfather, brother and friend, passed away on June 28, 2025, in Erlanger, Kentucky, at the age of 88. Born on July 21, 1936, in Indianapolis, Indiana, Dick lived a life characterized by love, service, and an steadfast commitment to his family. His engaging personality and sense of humor endeared him to all he met.
Dick was a U.S. Marine veteran who served during the Korean War. After his service, he began a successful career as a salesman for Dyke Industries. Dick found spiritual fulfillment as a member of Beaverlick Christian Church.
A devoted family man, Dick fondly recalled memories shared with his loved ones, always cherishing the time spent together. He is survived by his children: Tom (Jean) Baumer, Patty (Rod) Pierce, and Jamie (Kelly) Baumer; his sister, Harriette LaFollette; along with nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren who carry forward his legacy of love.
Dick was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 65 years, Linda Lou (Ford) Baumer, who passed on March 12, 2022. He was also reunited with his parents, Ott John and Leona (Shepherd) Baumer, and siblings Roberta Herman, Ronald Baumer, and David Baumer.
Beyond his professional career and family life, Dick had a multitude of hobbies and interests that brought him joy. He enjoyed spending time golfing, gardening, birdwatching, woodworking, and cooking, often sharing his passions with family and friends.
Friends and family are invited to pay their respects during the visitation on July 2, 2025, from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm at the Middendorf-Bullock Funeral Home, 1833 Petersburg Road, Hebron, Kentucky. The funeral service will take place the following day, July 3, 2025, beginning at 11:00 am, also at the funeral home.
Dick leaves behind a legacy of warmth, laughter, and family devotion that will be cherished by all who knew him. His life is a reminder of the importance of family, the appreciation of simple joys, and the enduring power of love.
