Robert Lee Foxworthy, 87, of Independence, passed away on Monday, January 5, 2026. He was born on May 30, 1938, in Lebanon (Marion County), Kentucky. He was the son of the late Davis E. Foxworthy and Mary Lucille Harmon. He leaves behind his loving wife of 64 years, Patricia Mae Foxworthy (née Dolwick). He also leaves four children, Kathy Foxworthy Bowman and husband Ron; David Foxworthy and wife Tammy (née Free); Teresa Foxworthy Cook and husband Stephen; and Rachel Foxworthy; and ten grandchildren—Caleb Cook, Kiersten Foxworthy Quire and husband Josh, Sydney Spaulding (née Cook) and husband Josh, Davis Foxworthy, Gillian Jamesson (née Bowman) and husband Mickey, Dorian Cook, Tobias Cook, Shaylee Bowman, Bobby Snyder, and Jeslyn Snyder; and two great grandchildren—Wrenley Quire and Amelie Spaulding. He is also survived by sisters, Peggy Packard (née Harmon) and Luann Harmon and brother Paul Harmon (Cyndye). In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters Betty Houston (née Foxworthy) and Sue Foxworthy.

Although born in Kentucky, Bob spent much of his childhood in Huntsville, Alabama, where he was an active member of the Boy Scouts of America and even traveled to the Irvine Ranch in California for the National Jamboree in 1953. When Bob was nine, he began building his strong work ethic with a daily paper route before school. As he entered adulthood, Bob worked as a surveyor for the state of Kentucky before being drafted by the United States Army in 1961. He served honorably during the Vietnam War Era as a US Army Field Artillery Surveyor earning the rank of Specialist 4th Class, and one of his proudest moments was being named Soldier of the Month (out of 3000 eligible soldiers) for the 11th Air Assault Division in 1963. After completing his military service, Bob worked as a salesman in the construction supply industry before partnering to start Con-Quip, which he owned and operated in Burlington for more than 30 years.

Bob was a longtime member of Hebron Lutheran Church where he served multiple terms as a church council member, helped with numerous building projects, went on mission trips, and was known for having the firmest handshake in the congregation. Bob appreciated God and his creation which he loved to experience by growing sunflowers on his farm and watching the wildlife out his kitchen window. Bob was also an avid hunter and fisherman who spent many years traveling out west to hunt pheasants with a group of close friends, and he traveled to all 50 states with his wife and dear friends. Bob had an unmatched work ethic and was the first to jump in and lend a hand to a friend or family member on any project. Bob loved his family fiercely and was proud to share their accomplishments. He never met a stranger and never forgot a joke. In recent years, he enjoyed spending time in the company of his children, grandchildren, wife, and his beloved dog Fancy.
