Aida Sheehy

Aida Cruz Sheehy nee Alcocer, 94, of Florence, formerly of Hornell, New York, passed away Thursday, May 7, 2020 at her daughter’s home.

Aida was a homemaker. She was longtime member of Our Lady of the Valley Church, Hornell and she attended Mary Queen of Heaven Church, Erlanger while her health permitted. She loved crocheting and knitting and was an avid sports fan who followed the Yankees and the Buffalo Bills. Aida also enjoyed watching golf and NBA and NCAA basketball.

Aida was preceded in death by her husband, John Joseph Sheehy in 1978; parents, Venancio and Laura Guzman Alcocer; twin sister, Elsy Shanley; and a brother, Jose Antonio Alcocer.

Surviving is her daughter, Maureen L. (Aaron) Dragone of Florence; sister, Bertha McShane; brother, Venancio Alcocer; grandchildren, Aidan Dragone and Mariella Dragone; and a host of nephews and cousins.

Due to the Covid-19 Coronavirus, the Mass of Christian Burial will be private at Mary Queen of Heaven Church, Erlanger. Middendorf-Bullock Funeral Home, Erlanger is serving the family. Interment will be in St. Mary Cemetery, Hornell, NY.
