John "John Boy" Hawes

John W. “John Boy” Hawes, 79, of Burlington, passed away Friday, September 24, 2021, at St. Elizabeth Healthcare, Florence. John was a retired self-employed Land Surveyor.

John served his country during Vietnam in the U. S. Marine Corps and was a longtime member of the Dutchman’s Rod & Gun Club where he enjoyed shooting. He also enjoyed working in stained glass and wood and was a true “Jack of all trades.”

He was preceded in death by his parents, Guy Bernard Hawes Sr., and Mary Reed Hawes.

Surviving is his wife of 55 years whom he married on December 30, 1965, Kathryn “Katie” (Sullivan) Hawes; brother, Guy Bernard (Arlene) Hawes, Jr.; and a host of extended family and friends.

Visitation 11:00 am to 1:00 pm Wednesday, September 29, 2021 at the Middendorf-Bullock Funeral Home, Hebron. Funeral services to immediately follow at 1:00 p.m. Interment will be in Hebron Lutheran Cemetery, Hebron.
