Ronald "Ronnie" Hodges

Ronald Lee Hodges, 87 of Hebron, Kentucky passed away at his home on Tuesday, May 25, 2021 leaving a lasting legacy surrounded by his loving family.

Ronnie was born in Petersburg, Kentucky, the son of Lewis Hodges and Frances Kittle Hodges. Ronnie was first a Christian proclaiming Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior to all whom he met. His life was fulfilled by a lifetime of Christian discipleship, Bible study, prayer, Sunday School Teacher and deacon of Bullittsburg Baptist Church in Petersburg, Kentucky. Ronnie dedicated the remainder of his time to family and a love of gardening.

He graduated from Hebron High School. He was drafted in the United States Army in 1954 serving during the Korean War and was honorably discharged in 1956. His career amassed 38 years as a locomotive engineer with the L and N Railroad, later CSX from which he retired.

Ronnie is survived by his wife of 62 years, Rita Cave Hodges, and their three children, Randy (Kathy) Hodges, Rhonda (Dave) Broyles Bergman and Ramah (Wayne) Mayers. Known as Poppy, he is also survived by his eleven grandchildren, Leslie Hendrickson, Stephanie (Derek) Hodges Hensley, Tyler (Carolin) Hodges, Cameron Hodges, Derek Broyles, Cody Broyles, Jeremy Broyles, Silas Mayers, Kadin Mayers, Emma Bergman and Landon Bergman. Also, great-grandchildren Evan Hendrickson and Avery Hendrickson.

Visitation 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm Friday, May 28, 2021 at Bullittsburg Baptist Church, Petersburg. Funeral services to immediately follow at 3:00 pm with the  Reverends Calvin Perry, Jerel Treas,  Dave Panella and Bob Boster officiating. Interment with military honors will be in the Bullittsburg Baptist Church Cemetery following the services. Pall bearers: Stephanie Hodges Hensley, Tyler Hodges, Cameron Hodges, Derek Broyles, Cody Broyles, Jeremy Broyles, and Chris Price.

Family request memorials be made to the Bullittsburg Baptist Church, 2616 Bullittsburg Church Road, Petersburg, KY 41080. Middendorf-Bullock Funeral Home, Hebron is serving the family.
